Meet The Mighty Men of Faith
The Mighty Men of Faith is a quartet that sings contemporary gospel/Christian music. There mission is to spread God’s WORD to the masses through song.

Rev. Ed Prothro-Harris
Bio: Rev. Ed Harris is one of the founding members of the Mighty Men of Faith in 2009. He is from Rocky Mount, North Carolina. He currently lives in Discovery Bay California with his wife Rev. Kadesta Harris. He has seven children, six boys and a daughter, and three grand children. He has been a Pastor in the AMEZ church for over 15 years. He is currently the Pastor at Agape Fellowship AME Zion Church in Brentwood/Discovery Bay Ca. He is the former Pastor at Mr. Pisgah AME Zion Church in Merced CA. He also Pastored at the University AME Zion Church in Palo Alto CA. He worked at CSAA Insurance Group as the Training/Master Facilitator. He has, since an early age, been involved with singing in the Church. He was a member of the Rocky Mount Save the children Movement Community choir that was directed by Rev. Luther Barnes. Rev. Harris is an avid Oakland Raider football fan. He has a room in his house primarily dedicated to Oakland Raider memorabilia. He is a member of Omega PHI Fraternity Incorporated. He is a graduate of St. Mary’s College, Moraga, CA with a degree in Management.
Bio: Wendell Basey is a founding member of the Mighty Men of Faith. He was born in Breckenridge, Texas where his grandfather Rev. Nathaniel Foster was the pastor of Mt. Olive Baptist Church. He loves music and singing. He began singing at an early age in the youth Choir at Beth Eden Baptist Church in Oakland Ca. where his mother was the director of the choir. He also sang in his High School choir and along with his brother Aaron Basey started singing in a quartet called the Casuals. You could find Wendell along with other quartet singers on the Corner singing doo-wop. After High School he served in the United States Air Force for four years. Upon discharge from the Military Service he and his brother formed the group Onyx. The group recorded several songs. One of their songs 'Break it Loose' was used in the movie "Cross Bronx" that aired on The Movie Channel and Cinemax. Onyx changed their name to Onyx1 Featuring Terrence Forsythe. They released the album “Right Now” with melodic songs of love that had an Ole School Flavor. Wendell is married to Hazel Basey. He has three children a daughter and two sons and five grand children three boys and two girls. When he is not enjoying the company of his family and singing he is playing chess, working crossword puzzles or pacing the floor in his home.
Bio: Richard Hayes is a music enthusiast. He began singing and playing the piano when he was four years old. He has played the piano for several churches in the bay area and sung in several bay area choirs. He directs the mass choir at Palma Cia Baptist Church in Hayward Ca. He is currently attending California State University Stanislaus majoring in Music Education. He has also been an actor in several plays and been the music director for a number of them. He joined the Mighty Men of Faith as their keyboardist and as a substitute singer when one of the members could not make an event. He became a full time vocalist for the group in 2013. When Richie is not studying, singing in the group, performing in plays, directing choirs, or being a music director for plays he can be found giving vocal lessons to young people. He also plays a number of musical instruments. Richie is single and has seven brothers and sisters. Richie’s father and mother are both Pastors and singers in the Baptist and AME Zion Church.
Bio: Charles E. Johnson Sr. was born and raised in Oakland California. He is married to Wynona Johnson and has four children three girls and a son. He started his singing career at the young age of twelve with a quartet group made up of his friends at golden gate academy, a seventh day Adventist Christian School in Oakland California. He went on to Castlemont High school where he honed his musical talent under the leadership of Philip Reeder and the world renowned Castlemont Castleers. After high school, Charles continued singing for many different singing groups and choirs, singing in gospel tours, musical plays, and concerts. Charles is also a songwriter with the Amazing Music Group, currently working on projects for Du Jour films and entertainment. Charles is a SAG eligible actor gaining small roles in commercials and movies such as “I’m in love with a church girl” staring super star, rapper and actor Ja Rule, and “Catch Me if You Can” Discovery channel. Charles joined the Mighty Men of Faith in 2013 singing lead and first tenor when singing background. He is a member of Mt. Calvary Baptist Church in
